Friday
2-4 pm: Check - in
4pm – 6pm: High-lines, portable fencing & hobbling
6:30 – 8pm: Dinner (On your own: You can reserve dinner in lodge for $26, bring a camp stove or BBQ grill, or travel back into Halfway and sample one of the 2 restaurants there)
8:30pm – Music (jam session?) & campfire
Saturday
8:30 – 9:30 am: Continental Breakfast (Included)
9:30- 10:30 a.m: USFS guidelines and rules re: trails, stock and camps.
10:45 – 11:45 am: Trail Etiquette, Types of Pack Equipment & pros/cons of each
Noon: Lunch (Included)
1pm – 3pm: Intro to packing mules / horses
· How to properly fit your pack gear to your animal (such as: - Packing a riding saddle; packing w/ pannier bags; fitting Deckers or Sawbucks to your animal, etc.) You are welcome to bring your animal / equipment for assistance in properly fitting your gear.
· How to properly plan what you need for your trip
3:30 - 4:30: Stump the Packer – bring your hard to pack items & see if you can stump the packer! (Items must be actual items you’d want & would take in camp).
5pm – 6pm: How to string your animals together, How to lead the string once together, etc. (Includes hands-on practice)
6:30 – 8pm: Dinner (On your own: You can reserve dinner in lodge for $26, bring a camp stove or BBQ grill, or travel back into Halfway and sample one of the 2 restaurants there)
8pm – Campfire, question & answer, music
Sunday:
8:30 – 9:30 Continental Breakfast (Included)
9:45 – 11:45 am:
Option “A”: Packing 201 – Mantie loads
Option “B”: Dutch Oven Meals
Noon: Dutch Oven Lunch (Included)
Cost: (All options include breakfast and lunch as noted above)
No Lodging: $250/person
Wall Tent Camp (4 people per tent) $325/person(These are 4-person wall tents with platformfloors and cots. A shower, sink and toilet are located in camp as well).
Cabin (cost is per person, 2 people minimum in 1 bedroom cabin, 3 people minimum in 2-bedroom). $380 person
